I’ve always cared about where my food came from.
Long before Sovereign Warrior, I was reading ingredient labels, asking questions, and looking for food made with ingredients I felt good about bringing into my home.
Over the years, though, I started paying attention to something else.
I realized food doesn’t begin in a kitchen.
It begins long before that.
It begins with the soil.
The ranch.
The farmer.
The way an animal is raised.
The people making decisions long before an ingredient ever reaches us.
The more I learned, the more I realized that the source shapes everything that comes after it.
It shapes the quality of the food.
It influences the health of the land.
It reflects the way animals are treated.
And every purchase we make helps support one system or another.
That’s why sourcing has always been so important to us.
When we created Sovereign Warrior, we made a commitment to know where our ingredients come from and to build relationships with the people behind them.
For our whole muscle jerky, we partner with Wild Idea Buffalo.
What drew us to Wild Idea wasn’t just the quality of their bison. It was the way they think.
Their animals spend their lives roaming native prairie grasslands instead of feedlots, living the way bison were meant to live.
When it’s time for harvest, they’re field harvested where they live, avoiding the stress of transportation and conventional industrial systems.
The first time I learned about field harvest, it stopped me for a moment.
It wasn’t something I had thought much about before, but it made me realize how connected animal welfare, land stewardship, and food quality really are.
It simply felt like a more respectful way of doing things.
That’s also why we’re proud to offer the first-to-market Regenerative Organic Certified® bison jerky.
Regenerative Organic Certified® goes beyond organic by recognizing practices that support healthier soil, animal welfare, and the people who steward the land. Right now, regenerative organic bison is still incredibly limited, which is why our Aegean is currently our only ROC flavor. As more becomes available, we hope to continue expanding those offerings.
For our Bison Bites, we source from Creekside Ranch here in Darby, Montana, just a few minutes from our facility.
Like Wild Idea, their bison are 100% grass-fed and finished, pasture raised, and never confined.
What I appreciate most is knowing exactly where our meat comes from and having a direct relationship with the people raising it.
People sometimes ask why we work with two different ranches.
The answer is simple.
We look for partners whose values align with ours and whose products are the best fit for what we’re creating.
Different ranches can have different approaches while still sharing the same commitment to raising animals with care, respecting the land, and producing exceptional food.
I’d rather be transparent about those differences than simplify the story.
Because I believe people deserve to know where their food comes from.
Food has become incredibly disconnected from its source.
Most of us have never met the people who raise our food.
We’ve never walked the land.
We’ve never seen how the animals lived.
We’ve simply learned to trust the label.
I think reconnecting with those questions matters.
Not because anyone has to do everything perfectly.
But because awareness changes the way we make decisions.
When we know more, we tend to choose more intentionally.
At Sovereign Warrior, we can’t control every part of the food system.
But we can choose who we partner with.
We can ask difficult questions.
We can seek out ingredients we’d feel proud to serve our own families.
We can build relationships instead of simply placing orders.
And we can be transparent with the people who choose to support us.
Because food is never just food.
Every ingredient has a story.
Every purchase supports a system.
Every choice shapes the future we’re creating.
Your choices are the revolution.
